The authors evaluate contribution of Samara citizens to the great victory over the German Fascists in the Battle of Kursk. The two armies (the 21th Army and the 27th Army) that took an active part in the battles on the Kursk salient were formed in Kuibyshev city. 15 residents of the Kuibyshev (Samara) region were awarded to the hero of the Soviet Union.
