The dictionary acquaints the reader with the complicated system of beliefs that were widely spread within Russian peasantry in the XIX-XXth centuries. The main heroes - witches, magicians, devils, brownies, water sprites, wood-goblins and other spirits - reflect a hitherto existing stratum of traditional culture.
