Due to the ninth edition of the series "Russian Manor" the readers have an opportunity to get acquainted with the materials from the conference "Russian Manor in the Context of Native and World Culture", which took place in the year of 2002 in the State Historical Museum in Moscow. The first two sections of the book comprise materials which correspond to the topic of the conference and elucidate some general issues on the study of manors as well as comparison of Russian manors with Western European ones in different aspects.
