The book by P.Tolochko, a well-known Ukrainian archeologist and historian, deals with the written language history of Russia in the Xth - the XIIIth centuries. This is the first special monograph research devoted to the heritage of Old Russian annals writers. Special attention is paid to the chronology of all-Russian annals writing, as well as to chronicles of each land separately; to the contents and ideological orientation of some legends, stories and collections.
