This book presents a methodology for the study of the architecture, discovered in archaeological excavations, and how this methodology was applied to the study and analysis of the elements of the architecture of religious buildings in Thrace in the antiquity. Selected examples illustrate the details of their interior and exterior design, function, performance and partly decoration. Their interpretation is associated with scientific, technical and technological achievements and knowledge of the architects who created them. Cultural and historic environment, including philosophical schools and doctrines of antiquity, political system and social structure are found in the book as factors determining the appearance and style of the ancient religious architecture. The book offers research and hypotheses on the issues raised so far only by the author. Their scholarly reasoning is illustrated with numerous photos and graphic material.
