The book reviews the historiographic approaches to the study of the religion of the ancient Bulgarians applied between 1980 and 2015. The author Tsvetelin Stepanov is a historian who works with students of culturology at Sofia University. In his work, he is concerned mainly with the history and culture of medieval Bulgaria and the history of the ancient Bulgars as well as the people of the Caucasus region and the steppes of Eurasia. He is interested in matters of power, holiness, eschatology, apocalyptics, remembrance, and otherness.
