This collection is based on the materials of the interdisciplinary round-table discussion “History and Contemporaneity of Russian Emigrants: Parallels and Antitheses" organized by the Russian Academy of Sciences on November 28-29, 2005. The collected materials allow comparing the phenomenon of “brain drain” from Russia with post-revolutionary Russian emigrants, who played a significant role. The book is aimed at revealing similar problems (parallels) and essential contrasts (antitheses) of Russian intellectual emigrants of the past and the present. It underlines the cardinal changes in national identity and self-consciousness of the modern Russian intellectual emigrants.
