On May 28, 1918, the independent statehood of Armenia was reinstated. The first Republic of Armenia was born in an extremely difficult and conflict-struck internal and external situation. From the inception of its external politics, the newly-created Republic of Armenia embarked upon the institutionalization of ties with states units of various political “shades”, which had emerged in Soviet Russia and the territory of the former Russian Empire.
