The volume contains documents and testimonies about the persecution of Bulgarians in western Macedonia and Albania and their mass flight as refugees outside the demarcation line, their reception and accommodation by the Bulgarian administration in the Skopje and Bitola region of the Kingdom of Bulgaria. There are statistics on the thousands of refugees who left their native places in Western Macedonia in the period 1941-1944 because of their persecution as Bulgarians, and their struggle to preserve their Bulgarian national identity.
