Yulali Picard, born Gue (1879-1957) was Russian-Swiss writer and translator. This novel is about the first years of the existence of Smolensk State University. This work, artistic in form and local lore in content, describes real historical events and faces of Smolensk in the first half of the 1920s. The novel, written in exile, represents the view of the writer, who did not accept the October coup, on the fate of post-revolutionary Russia and its people. The novel was written in 1925 in French.
