The fourth issue of the informational edition inquires into the problems of historic-cultural traditions in the work of public libraries of provincial Russia. Supported by the data from the Vol'ter Archive concerning the history of libraries, collected during the period from 1902 to 1904, the study characterizes traditions and innovations in the work of libraries with book gifts and reports, disclosing experience of Pavlenkov libraries.
