The monograph is devoted to the analysis of medical and ecological aspects of various radiation disasters that occurred on the territory of the former USSR during the period from 1957 to 1993. On the basis of wide factual material as well as thanks to personal experience of the authors the activity of state structures aimed at preventing the radiation catastrophes is analyzed. The effectiveness of various protective measures is estimated.
