The history of the origins and development of publishing in Azerbaijan since the first manuscripts in ancient times through islam clerical dominance and stagnation in publishing development; first printed newspaper in the XIX century; publishing boom in Soviet times (though many things printed then were strictly oriented to Marxism-Leninizm ideology and served only as recycling paper later) till the harsh decline of the first half of 90-s and a partial revival nowadays. The book also presents a list and description of all publishing houses functioning in Azebaijan at present as well as basic legal acts governing publishing activity in this Transcaucasian country.
