Experts from Belarus, Nigeria, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Poland, France and the Vatican will arrive at the annual conference to be held within the walls of the regional executive committee. The forum will be attended by representatives of the regional authorities, doctors, theologians, scientists, the Ambassador of the Vatican in Belarus Gabor Pinter and a priest from the Vatican Department for Serving the Integral Development of Human Darius Gers. Also, the work of the conference will be watched by video calls by medical workers from the districts of the Vitebsk region. Before the start of the forum, the apostolic nuncio will become familiar with the work of the health care institutions of the regional center. For two days, conference participants will discuss the spiritual aspects of combating abortion and euthanasia, bioethics in modern medicine, childbirth, pediatrics and transplantology. Experts will also consider the prevention of alcoholism and drug addiction, the formation of a healthy lifestyle. At the end of each of the two days of the forum discussions will take place. The conference is held on the initiative of the Vitebsk diocese of the Roman Catholic Church and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee with the participation of three state universities of the regional center: Medical University, the University named after P.Masherov and the Academy of Veterinary Medicine. For the second year priests of the Society of Jesus will become the spiritual curators of the forum. At one time, the Jesuits served on the territory of the Vitebsk province in Orsha, Polotsk and Vitebsk. The famous Jesuit scholar and encyclopaedist Gabriel Gruber (1740-1805) brought fame to the Polotsk collegium as one of the best universities in Europe.
