The problem of "language - speech" dichotomy is envisaged through the determination of the nature and cognitive mechanisms of formation of lexical polysemy. The author aims at theoretical substantiation and search of contansive core, which strengthens all meanings of the polysemantic word, and outlines the "borders" of system meaning of the multivocal word.
