A book about the relations between the communist regime and the Jewish community in the years 1945-1992. The authors rely on knowledge from historical, archival and ethnological research, use data from artistic and memoir literature and authentic memories of the memorialists, which create a varied view of the post-war period until 1992. They examine the situation in the Jewish community shortly after liberation, after the return of the Jews, how they coped with the consequences of the Holocaust, but also their contacts with state institutions. Separate chapters are devoted to political processes in Slovakia, self-defense reactions of Jewish institutions and individuals (emigration, "life with a mask", loyalty), reflections on the sixties, the period of normalization and the situation of the Jewish community after November 1989.
