This scientific study discusses two aspects related to the activities of political parties – the process of selecting leaders of Lithuanian political parties and the most important factors influencing it, and the financing models of Lithuanian political parties, their changes and importance for political parties. The study consists of several parts. First, the electoral system and detailed results of the 2004-2020 Seimas elections are discussed, which help to identify macro-trends among voters and identify important political parties and the party system in Lithuania. Later, theoretical models and systems of selecting party leaders and party financing are presented. Based on them, selected cases of two Lithuanian political parties and changes in political party financing are analyzed, and insights are provided about its possible consequences for the competition and organization of political parties.
