The Pinsk district of the Brest region is famous for its unique natural landscapes, rich historical and cultural heritage and the originality of Poleshuk. The history of Pinsk begins in the 8th century. It was then that one of the oldest Slavic settlements on the territory of Belarus was founded near the present village of Gorodishche. Numerous wars of the second half of the 17th and early 18th centuries did not bypass this region. A significant part of the settlements was destroyed and looted. However, Pinsk, which by that time had received the Magdeburg Law, remained for a long time the economic and cultural center of Polesie. At present, Pinsk is second only to Grodno in terms of the number of preserved architectural monuments. A special place in the region is occupied by Orthodox and Catholic churches, unique wooden shrines related to the Polesie architecture. Among them is the 18th century Holy Trinity Church in Dobroslavka - the narrowest wooden church in Belarus.
