The present issue of the almanac contains various materials on the history and culture of the Russian Jewish community within the last few centuries and on the role of the Jews in social and national life. Special attention is drawn to religious policy in Russia regarding Israelites, inter-confessional contacts, conflicts within Judaism and its influence on the rest of the population. The almanac provides information on Jewish folklore, literature in Yiddish and Russian, synagogue architecture and other aspects related to Russian Jews.
