This three-volume edition is considered to be a rarity. Johans Brotze, a famous Latvian scientist of Czech origin devoted his life to depicting everyday Latvia in smallest details: people and their way of life, Latvian streets and buildings, Latvian nature. None of encyclopaedic editions is published without his illustrations. This time each volume presents a particular edge of his heritage. The first one depicts Riga in XVIIIth and XIXth centuries: panorama, transport, buildings, citizens, fortification, self-government. With the second one we drive along the suburbs of Riga observing schools and churches, mills and factories. The third one takes us to Latvian towns such as Dole, Salaspils, Baldone, Malpils and others.
