Irena Veisaite (1928-2020) is a Lithuanian literary critic, theater critic. From 1934 to 1941 studied at Sholom Aleichem Gymnasium. During the Second World War, she lost her mother in the Kaunas ghetto. In 1944 Stefanija Ladigiene regardless of the risk, saved her by sheltering and hiding her in her home. I. From 1953 to 1997 she taught Western European literature, German literature, and theater history of the 20th century at the Vilnius Pedagogical University. Since 1965 associate professor, since 1999 Honorary professor of VPU. Since 1963 also known as a theater critic. Published over 200 articles in the Lithuanian and foreign press. She was also the co-author of school textbooks, author of a dozen books.
