A book by the renowned Ukrainian historian Sapozhnikov I. is dedicated to the description of a minor episode of the Russian-Turkish War (1787-1791), when the Cossacks united under the command of the ataman Anton Golovatui set an assault against Berezan' Island took the Turkish garrison by surprise and made it surrender. The book also contains valuable historiographical data on the Berezan' Island, information on the Cossacks activity on this island and original documents, memoirs and diaries of the eye-witnesses of those events as well as the maps devoted to the topic.
