The photos, included into the album, demonstrate the most honourable relics and sites of the Russian Empire, historically significant for Orthodox consciousness, of the late XIXth - the early XXth centuries. The chapters of the book lead the reader from metropolitan St.Petersburg to towns and cloisters of the North and the Central Parts of Russia, via Volga, the Ukraine and Belarus, the Urals and Siberia, as well as via remote areas. In 2002 the offered title won the competition for the rank of "The Book of the Year".
