The monograph examines the specifics of the functioning of the concepts of Asia and the East in Russian literature of the 18th – 19th centuries, as well as the functioning of oriental motives in the novel by F.M. Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" and the implementation in them of the concepts of the East and Asia. The prerequisites for the appearance of oriental motives in the works of F.M. Dostoevsky.
