The intention of the publication is to draw attention to the rich visual fund contained in the Scientific Collections of the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Their foundation has been systematically built up since 1953. The reader is introduced to them through the theme of a wedding. Thus, an opportunity arose to create a publication in which ethnological knowledge about traditional wedding customs and their transformations in Slovakia in recent decades is summarised in a condensed form. The book is intended for both experts and the general public. Marrying couples who want to better understand the vast wedding custom complex and to build on the traditional folk culture of Slovakia when planning their wedding will find inspiration in it.
