The book represents an in-depth insight into the traditional culture of the Onega Riverside territory and the Onega Littoral Region, and rests upon the material of historical-ethnographic expeditions of 1987-2001on the territory of the Onega river basin of the Arkhangelsk Region. The memoirs of the locals and rare archival data help to reconstruct a many-sided life scene (traditions, way of life as well as morals and manners) of one of the regions of the Russian North from the early XXth century to the present days. The readers are offered expedition photos and a CD with songs and tales of the local indigenous peoples.
