The book draws a bottom line under an espionage case raised by FSB (Russian Security Service) against Aleksander Nikitin for publishing report “The North Sea Fleet: Potential Risks of Radioactive Contamination in the Region” in 1995. The four-year trial received a great public attention even at international level. The acquittal of the most feared in the former USSR charges clearly showed a real shift to establishing a civil society in Russia. Rare pictures from the family archive of the Nikitins are included in the book. The second volume presents a set of procedural documents used by Nikitin's lawyers during the case consideration and reviews.
