The key images and motives of one of the most little studied Solzhenitsyn's works are viewed in the context of the Slavic folk beliefs, the XIXth-century Classical Russian literature and Orthodox iconography. The author reveals interrelation between these motives, which allows seeing the complete image of the world, underlying national and cultural tradition of Solzhenitsyn's masterpiece.
