The book is about the masters of cinema, namely: film directors from Poland - Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Jerzy Hoffmann, Krzysztof Zanussi, Spain - Carlos Saura and Pedro Almodovar, Denmark - Thomas Viterberg and Suzanne Beer, whose creative task was to preserve the national identity of cinema of their country in the conditions of globalization. The reception of Ukrainian cinema, primarily the works of Oleksandr Dovzhenko and Serhiy Paradzhanov in foreign academic studies is separately considered.
