The book is dedicated to the narrow gauge railways in Latvia, that are called by the Latvians "Banitas", a word that originated from the German "die Bahn". The authors of the book trace the history of the railway back from the very beginning (1850's) through its development in the XXth century. The book is supplied with a good deal of photographs, maps and schemes telling the history of the Lettish narrow gauge railways in their own way.
