A book by the famous musician and teacher, professor at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Maykapar, representative of the oldest musical dynasty in Russia. It reflected deep and important thoughts about music, its interpretation, and the musician’s attitude to his mission. These judgments and reflections - serious, sometimes ironic and even humorous, but always important in essence, were embodied in the form of a diary of communication between a musician and his students - communication that was new in form - remote, caused by the special circumstances of our time - the coronavirus pandemic. The book is addressed to a wide range of music lovers and everyone who thinks about ways to overcome the physical and psychological difficulties of our era. The book – despite its dramatic title – radiates optimism.
