The Russian American woman writer Olga Isaeva is known in Russia and abroad for her wonderful realistic prose as well as keenness of observation, infallible visual and verbal memory for words, minutiae and colloquialisms. The voices of her characters are lively and easily recognizable, particularly the main character of the half of the stories presented in the book - little Lyolia Isaeva as well as the heroin of the rest of the stories Lyolia's twin sister Antoshka. Isaeva doesn't like to concoct her heroes, they come from her eventful childhood and her interesting adult life.
