This work reflects one of the periods of formation of Russian oriental studies - the first half of the XIXth century, which connects the name of O.M. Kowalevsky. Scientific missions to the East districts of Russia and East foreign countries were organized by Kazan University, where the first chair of Mongolian languages in Europe was opened in 1833 under the heard O.M. Kowalevskiy. In this work we present the O.M. Kowalevskiy's diary of 1832 drawn up during his traveling among the Buryat people of Eastern Siberia.
