The present book is a collection of surveys of contemporary American linguistics. The surveys look into the most fundamental trends of American linguistics, such as: generative grammar, generative approaches to the evidence from various languages (in particular, Russian), phonology, formal semantics, psycholinguistics, language acquisition, functionalism, and cognitive linguistics.
