The monograph is devoted to the reconstruction of the biography and a review of the written heritage of the controversial figure in world history - the last metropolitan, installed in Russia by the Greeks, Isidore of Kiev. His life was associated with the Byzantine Empire, Ancient Russia and the Latin West, and everywhere he occupied a significant position, influencing the key events of history. Having received an excellent classical education, he left behind several dozen works created in different genres and testifying to the great erudition and talent of their author. Metropolitan Isidore of Kiev signed the union at the Ferrara-Florentine Council, promoted it in the territories under his control, and died in Rome.
