The study builds on the author's previous publications in the field of linguistic pragmatics (Pragmatics in Czech, Czech Sentences at the Interface between Grammar and Pragmatics) and on several articles published in recent years. The concluding chapter of Pragmatics in Czech briefly touched upon partial metapragmatic topics, while the current monograph deals with this issue in great detail. The analysis of the texts used shows that the meta-approach not only represents a different perspective on language use, but also allows earlier observations and analyses to be placed in a systematic framework and captures the relationships between phenomena in which the reflection of individual aspects of usage is manifested. It is precisely the presentation of such a framework, which differentiates various indicators of metapragmatic awareness and shows their interaction, that can be considered the contribution of the metapragmatic approach of this publication. It demonstrates that the metapragmatic approach is not at odds with the basic themes of linguistic pragmatics, but rather complements them.
