The book tells about the life and work of Sergei Petrovich Popov the first head and chief designer (1963-1975) of the Design Bureau of motor transport equipment of the Ministry of medium machine building of the USSR (currently SPC ATO FSUE "VNIIA named after N.L. Dukhov" of the State Corporation for Atomic Energy "Rosatom"). The book includes materials from the family archive of S.P. Popov, the archive and photo archive of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "VNIIA", as well as the memoirs of friends and colleagues of Sergei Petrovich Popov.
