The book is a testimony to the suffering of the Macedonian people in the eastern part of Macedonia from the new conquerors after the Balkan Wars. It is also a testament to the Macedonian treacheries and murders (between the two world wars), that is, the fratricides and the Macedonian self-destruction. Central to it is the fighting of the VMRO's troops and groups against the Serbian regime in Vardar Macedonia, as well as the fighting, murders and assassinations among the groups and factions of the split VMRO and wider the Macedonian liberation movement.
