Kyiv literary critic, head of the Shevchenko Studies Department of the Institute of Literature named after T. G. Shevchenko Oleksandr Boron of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine collected under one cover his articles published in scientific and mass periodicals over the past few years. The researcher examines little-studied episodes of the biography of Taras Shevchenko, refutes some dubious hypotheses and dilettantish fabrications.
In the author's field of attention are also textological and source studies problems, such as the selection of the main text of the works, clarification of the dating of the epistolary, etc. The collection of notes is dedicated to commenting on some realities mentioned in the artist's letters and diary. An important place belongs to attempts to consider Shevchenko's poetry in a typological comparison with the works of Slovak romantics, and prose - in comparison with several works of European writers. A separate section was made up of posts about the visual heritage - details of dating, attributions, athetheses, projection on the European context.
