The book is about literary figures whose life and career were associated with Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second-largest city. Part 1 covers the period from the beginning of the 20th century until World War II. It describes the lifework of nationally significant authors as well as less known writers, with a focus on three of them: Nikolai Rainov, Hristo G. Kazandzhiev and Enyu Kyuvliev. Part 2 is about Plovdiv's poets since the 1950s, including David Ovadia, Ivan Teofilov, Peter Anastasov and Dobromir Tonev. Part 3 showcases writings about Plovdiv. Part 4 includes reviews of books by Ognyan Saparev, Ivan Vulev, Yordan Velchev and Dimiter Kirkov, among many others.
