Frank Hendricks is a Professor at the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch at the University of the Western Cape (UWK) since 1979. In 1978 he obtained the M.A. degree in Dutch. As an Afrikaans linguist he specializes in syntax, language variation and name studies. He is a former deputy chairman of the Language Commission of the South African Academy of Science and Art and was involved in the elaboration of the Eleventh edition of the Afrikaans Glossary.
