This book is a confession of a "heavyweight" in Belarusian politics N.I. Cherginets, who headed the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on International Affairs and National Security and the Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on Foreign Policy for more than 12 years, and also represented the Republic of Belarus in the UN from 1997 to 2008. Nikolai Cherginets is a person with enormous organizational skills and a phenomenal ability to find a common language with a wide variety of people. He made full use of these qualities while working in the international arena: he met with leaders of many countries, politicians, and famous people, constantly collaborated with foreign colleagues, including those from the European Parliament, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Western European Union, and managed to defend the rights of Belarus in the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The author tried to convey much of what he personally experienced and what he would like to share with a wide range of readers, including the new generation of politicians.
