This work explores the origins and genetic layers of the Tatar vocabulary. The study examines the vocabulary by areas of usage: commonly used words, regionally and socially limited vocabulary, their types and functions, as well as issues of Tatar terminology, all considered in light of the achievements of modern linguistics.
