The investigation suggests a look at the nature of language and symbol in the context of doctrine by an American philosopher Charles Peirce (1839 - 1914). Peirce was one of the brightest and most paradoxical figures not only of the American philosophy, but of the American culture in a whole. A mathematician, astronomer, chemist, land-surveyor, philosopher and science historian, he was recognized as the founder of American pragmatism in the middle of the XXth century. After that pragmatism turned into one of the most popular trends in the western philosophy. Today this term does not mean just a particular logic and philosophic or historic and scientific conception, but an extensive complex of theories, which can be applied both in liberal arts and natural sciences.
