The link between Roman Emperor Constantine the Great and the town of Kostinbrod is something new to the Bulgarian public. But it is so intriguing! The story takes us back to ancient Serdica (today's Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria) and the surrounding area in the 3rd and the 4th century AD, and we are reminded about the magnitude of the Roman Empire. We are led to observe Via Diagonalis (the most important road in the Empire), the ruins of the huge Palace of Constantine, numerous way stations, and much more... The Thracians were the principal participants in the events. And there is ample archeological, linguistic and folkloristic evidence of the Thracian past of the Bulgarians.
