A drama of contemporary rural life facing the pressures of big business ... Kristyna, a music teacher, returns to Novy Lhotek after years away from Prague. At the age of thirty-five, she tries to mend relations with her family and forget the past in the South Bohemian countryside. She and Tomas, the manager of the local farm, have known each other forever and are united by their desire to save their personal lives and a dilapidated building in the village square. Tomas is fifty-five years old, has lived alone for a long time and feels that he is getting older. With Kristyna comes hope, but gradually also disagreements stemming from the difference between life in the city and in the village. And then black cars appear in Lhotec. Young men in suits and ties get out of them, going round cottage after cottage, offering money for shares in the farm. And Tomas discovers that he will have to deal with a much more complex crisis than just his own life...
