The Center for Contemporary Culture Tselinny has published the book Kazakh New Wave by film critic Gulnara Abikeeva about the formation of national cinematography at the dawn of independence. We spoke with the center's press manager Sungat Akhtanov about the creation of the book and its target audience. Kazakh New Wave is first of all talented directors who had to create in a difficult time of political and social turbulence. The initiator of the creation of the collection was film critic Gulnar Abikeeva, president of the Association of Film Critics of Kazakhstan and author of 11 books about cinema. The collection contains annotations and reviews of 35 films.
