The monograph includes articles on various aspects of the past of the Karaite communities. The book is divided into three parts. The first part presents biographies of the Karaites, whose contribution to the development of the economy, culture, education and charity has not yet been appreciated. The second part is devoted to the problems of individual Karaite communities in Crimea and some other regions. The third part includes documents - documents of personal origin, memoirs and autobiographical notes of a number of prominent public figures of Russia of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, directly related to the past of the Karaites. Thus, an attempt was made under the auspices of one publication against a broad historical background to combine the biographies of prominent representatives of the Karaite people, as well as information about individual Karaite communities of the Russian Federation.
