Karlis Fimbers (1898-1970) was the first Latvian author who wrote his novels under the influence of E.-M. Remarque. The book contains two novels about the legendary Latvian marksmen. The first was written in 1930, the second - in 1933. During the period of occupation these works were forbidden as their main heroes struggled against Bolshevism.
