A story of lost worlds, fortune in a haystack, artistic endeavors in narrow circumstances and human memory of everything and everyone's fiber. The inspiration for the book was hundreds of photos taken 100-120 years ago of village life, rural people, their daily work, festive moments, funerals, children, young and old, even nudes and recordings from German East Africa, where one of the authors of the photos worked as a missionary for many years. The authors are Valgamaa schoolmasters Johannes and Carl Luckin, whose collections created from photographs taken as a hobby were considered destroyed or at least hopelessly lost for decades.
